Trent Bryant's "Wrapped Report"

  Welcome back classmates, friends, or daily stalker? My name is Shamari Blanding a.k.a Mari tha Mystic or commonly known as the lovely, the one, the only, Shamari-La'Tiana reporting directly to you from the cosmos! Today we have a quite interesting story about a special SC State band student. On Saturday, October 26th, Trent Bryant had the thrilling opportunity to play with SC State's marching band 101 during their homecoming performance. I briefly talked about Bryant using clips of his interview which only gave you a "peak" into the greatest homecoming performance, however, we are taking a deeper dive into this                                                                                             story and interview fully. Trent and the Marching                                                                                      101 band truly "rocked out" during the homecoming                                                                                    show. He really knocked the audience off their feet,                                                                                   and had interviews flowing in, here's the inside                                                                                           scoop on his reactions. 

  SC State students asked Bryant how he managed to maintain a healthy balance with academics, band, his personal life, and while being an active member of Omega Psi Phi fraternity incorporated. Trent states that the balance is "kinda hard" but somehow manages to deal with it all. 

    The following student asked Trent how he felt about being on the school homepage. Bryant states that many of his friends and colleagues were continuously sending him screenshots of him being on SC State's homepage. He states, "it's like I'm the face of the school." Bryant seemed very delighted to have such an opportunity. 

    Lastly, a fellow student asked Trent how he manages to maintain his energy throughout his performances. Trent gave a distinct clear answer that he and the Marching 101 band fuels off of each other's energy in addition to his own energy that he brings to the performances. He states that for some performances he has to "dig deep" because it can be exhausting at times. However, Bryant continues to push through for another successful performance.

My Top 5 Favorite Songs

    Good day classmates, friends, or daily stalker? My name is Shamari Blanding a.k.a Mari tha Mystic, or commonly known as the lovely, the one, and the only, Shamari-La'tiana. I am a sophomore Communications in broadcasting major at the illustrious South Carolina State University, and I am from the electric city of Anderson, South Carolina. 

    I love to call myself "poly-jamorous" because I do not like to box myself in when it comes to anything, ESPECIALLY music. Music is my heart and soul. I am truly a free spirit at heart, and music is a way that we can witness others express themselves freely in an art-form of sound. As we can see, music makes a HUGE impact on the world. Whether it's to inspire, teach, or just to relate to vast audiences. I listen to a variety of pop, hip-hop, rock/heavy metal, neo-soul, classical, and so much more surrounding music genres. Here are just a few of my favorite top five "bangers".  

  

Coming in hot and heavy at number five is "I Only Have Eyes for You" by The Flamingos. I absolutely adore this song because I am a lover girl at heart. I mean, who isn't? In today's society, it is rare to find men and people overall express their feelings in such a classy yet passionate manner. Today's music is so explicit and not filled with true feelings of expressing love for one another. This song is so loving and knowing that men do not express their feelings as much nor do we see that "soft side" to them, was highly disproved in this song. These men put their soul into this song reassuring the women that they were with that they only have eyes for them, and them only. A beautiful classic indeed. 

       Ranking in fourth place we have "Coupe DeVille" by the artist Laila! I just love the way Laila creates her music. She produces her own beats and writes her own lyrics as well! I really like this song because it's so laid back and makes me feel like I am floating on a cloud. In addition, the song makes me feel like I am in an ultimate love story where there is never-ending fun. A romantic date on the beach, a lengthy hug from your partner, holding hands while walking together on a bright-sunny day. This song reminds me of it all. Just take the time to walk with your headphones in at max volume while this song plays, I guarantee that you will feel exactly what I'm talking about. Laila did an amazing job with producing this song. It makes me feel like I'm in the perfect love story overall. 

     In the top three we have "Them Belly Full" by the legendary Bob Marley. As a Rastafarian myself, I just love Bob Marley. Every time I hear his music, I just know that everything will be okay, and that I no longer have to "worry about a thing." In this song he states, "Them belly full but they hungry, a hungry mob is an angry mob...forget your worries and dance." He is speaking of the powers that be. Most government officials and elected officers live a better life than the average citizen. We as Americans and/or regular citizens go through a lot on a day-to-day basis, we have struggles that the "powers that be" do not even have to go through nor will they ever fathom. He is telling the "lower class" or "lower ranking" citizens to forget about all of their worries at the moment, enjoy life, and cherish the present moment. We go through so much that we sometimes skip over all of the love and joy that is in this life.

     My personal favorite of all time, coming in second on the list is "Come Get it Bae" by the Pharrell Williams. I had recently rediscovered this song after forgetting all about its existence for many years! I remember being a young girl in my car seat doing little shrugs and trying to dance to this song. Pharrell makes his own beats as well, and let me tell you, every beat produced by Pharrell makes you want to get up and "bust a move" every single time! 

 

    Last, but never least, we have "In CTRL" by Laila in first place. This song is currently my favorite and is the first song I play every day before I play any other song! Laila is such a fun and creative artist, which is what I like about the song so much. While this song is fun, she consistently reminds her audience that they are in control (CTRL). She also talks about how she goes on tour, she is always in her winning season, and how she is an overall genius. Which in fact, Laila is surely a genius with the way she produces every song that she has and does it beautifully I may add.
